I have decided to start a “Book vs Movie” (or tv show) thingy to decide who did it better. I feel like the books will always win, but you never know 😛
I have started reading A Game Of Thrones, so I think it would be a good idea to start with a comparison between the first episode of the first season and the first few chapters of the first book.
LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!
Beyond the Wall
THE WHITE WALKERS!! My first look at White Walkers in the show was pretty creepy and cool. I found this part of the episode to be a little confusing as we aren’t given much information about what we are seeing. I think I preferred the book version of these events as there is more violence and more details about the WWs. Those eyes, though
In the Seven Kingdoms
This is where the show wins out. The deserter is executed and there are direwolf pups which are just the cutest!! We are introduced to the Starks and the Lannisters – their personalities come across a lot stronger on the show than in the book, especially Arya and Tyrion. What was weird to read were the age differences! Everyone is so much younger in the books which will make reading about the characters so much more interesting – for those who live there will be more evidence of character growth 🙂
Across the Narrow Sea
Daenerys. That is all.
The show portrays this region and characters very vividly. I am 100% happy that they aged her so she isn’t a 14 year old bride. I don’t think I could have watched it. It was rough enough reading it. Again, it was really cool to see the Dothraki society on screen – their viciousness, their animalistic natures.
So with two out of three, the TV show wins Round 1!
