Top 5 Songs | 17 October to 23 October 2016

Haiiii!

I have decided that I want to branch out a bit with this blog because there are things other than books that I love.

One of those is music. I love me some musak. I don’t really care what type of music it is, I can usually find an artist inside a genre that I can enjoy, but I definitely do love the mainstream stuff.

So I am going to attempt to give you my top 5 songs of the week every week starting from now. These will just be any five songs that I have not been able to stop listening to over the last week.

5. Blue Bayou | Roy Orbison | 1955

I have a bizarre fascination with talent shows on television and I was watching random performances from The Voice (America) and I came across someone called Alisan Porter who just nailed this song, and I had to go see who originally sang it. Should have known it would be bae.

4. This Town | Niall Horan | 2016

I am making heart eyes at this cutie patootie! I feel like this is an underrated song because it’s such an even-tempered one. There is no big chorus, it’s just peaceful and beautiful in its simplicity.

3. Lost | Major Lazer ft. MØ | 2015

This is a cover of Frank Ocean’s Lost and I feel that they have made it their own. The beat is there and I love that they have techno-ed it up. I have been listening to it non-stop for the last week so I can already feel myself hitting the “so over it” stage, but it has been a fantastic week.

2. Crash | Usher | 2016

HE.

IS.

BACK.

Usher is too talented to not be performing so I am so ridiculously happy that he is releasing his own music again.

1. Fade | Kanye West | 2016

I don’t even know where to begin with this. A lot of my love comes from the video – I can not look away from Teyana dancing because she is hypnotising and such a ridiculously good dancer. But the song is also catchy and I am always sad when it ends. Maybe I am just proud of Kanye for making a video that’s not about him…

Top 5: Characters who deserve their own books/series?

5. Evanjalin from Finnikin of the Rock

Knowing how the book ends, it would be amazing to read it from her perspective. She has an epic past that would be amazing to explore and a future with one of my first book crushes, so I needs me some of that.

Evanjalin

4.  Zuzana from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series

ZUZANA IS ADORABLE!!! SHE IS BADASS IN HER OWN WAY AND SHE HAS HER OWN CUTE RELATIONSHIP WHICH WOULD BE AMAZING TO READ ABOUT AND UGH! I CAN’T EVEN!

Zuzana

3. Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights

What? I like them brooding and damaged. So sue me.

Heathcliff

2. Jem from The Infernal Devices series

There is so much about him that readers need to know! Sooooo many missing years that need to be explored.

Jem

1. Severus Snape from the Harry Potter series

If I need to explain why this needs to be a thing, I don’t think we can be friends.

On the 1st of September, 2015:

Top5 Queen of Shadows

This is legitimately one of my favourite series at the moment and I can’t wait to read more about Celaena. I feel like I have been waiting for this book for a bajillion years – which is a completely accurate measurement of time.

On the 8th of September, 2015:

Top5 Stand Off

JDGJKFGCVNXMCVIUSYJSKFOAISGJHDFJGFKHGDFGFPSGITUEJFDDVL!! <– This is the only way I am able to express my feelings about this sequel.  Just a tad excited.

On the 6th of October, 2015:

Top5 Carry On

Now I am not the biggest fan of Rowell’s – don’t get me wrong, I love her books and I am excited for this but I am not making inarticulate screeches because of it. I am hoping for a winner here.

On the 20th of October, 2015:

Top5 Career of Evil

Queen Rowling – as Galbraith – is back! I absolutely adore her crime novels and I can’t wait to mentally munch on this.

On the 3rd of November, 2015:

Top5 The Revolution of Ivy

These are my feelings:

On the 10th of November, 2015 we have two releases. TWO!

Top5 November 9

Yes. Yes…ALL THE YES!

Top5 Soundless

A new book by one of my all-time favourite authors? Put me down for 57. Thanks.

Top 5 Chapter Titles

THIS WAS SO FREAKING DIFFICULT!

I very rarely pay attention to these as they can be massive plot spoilers, or they are boring, and sometimes they are even misleading. Anyhoo. Rage over.

These are the Top 5 Chapter Titles from books… (it’s actually more like the ONLY five I could think of, but they are still pretty sweet.)

Number 5: Lord of the Rings

I watched the movies before reading the book so I fell in love with them there. It was amazing to see how faithful they remained to the book by naming the movies’ chapters after the book’s chapters.

CT LOTR

Number 4: Alice in Wonderland

Just quirky and cute. Nothing better.

CT Alice in Wonderland

Number 3: The Mortal Instruments

These aren’t always over the top and they usually don’t give anything away. I think these books (and any books by Cassandra Clare) are perfect.

CT TMI

Number 2: Harry Potter

I got shivers the first time I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone just from the first chapter title: The Boy Who Lived

CT Harry Potter

NUMBER 1: PERCY JACKSON

I have only read the first book but the chapter titles were amazing and hilarious and they slay me dead!

CT Percy Jackson

Top 5 Books I Will Never Read

Now these aren’t necessarily books I have hated, they are mostly ones that I have tried to read and they have failed to capture my interest for some reason –  or in No. 5’s case it has offended me with its terrible-ness.

1. A Clockwork Orange – tried it once and my brain melted. It was like reading a foreign language.

2. There is a very big possibility that I won’t pick up The Book Thief ever again as well. Zero intentions of finishing it as I did not find the storytelling to be that great, especially when compared to his other epic book ‘I am the Messenger’.

3. Most non-fiction books – fiction gal 4 lyf ✌

4. Most YouTuber books – really doesn’t float my boat. Physics floats my boat.

5. THE REST OF THE SELECTION SERIES AND ANY OTHER WORKS EVER WRITTEN BY KIERA CASS IN THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE AND ALL ALTERNATE UNIVERSES. The pain! Curse you books for being so pretty but frustrating.
